Woops…

Ehm, let's pretend it's not 5 months later…. Autumn and winter came and went and so did a lot of other things… nothing extremely spectacular in our life beside L. turning 1!

I found out today that web-log is migrating to WordPress so I'm trying to decide wether I'm moving to Blogger or if I should stay here… Any input is welcome ;-)

Autumn/fall nature table

Yes, the leaves are slowly starting to fall and the rain is falling heavily… Great to sit inside, read blogs, drink tea and do something creative!

IMG_4126

I have always liked nature tables. When I was young my mother made little corners like this in the house for almost every season (I think). I like this tradition and would like to give L. the same nice memories.

The gnome was a swapgift, the crochet mushroom, pumpkin and wooden/felt gnomes I made myself. The two wooden mushrooms I bought in Austria almost 2 years ago when we were skiing there, but I have seen them in other shops in Holland also since then.

I love to look at other nature tables (or corners/cabinets). Take a look at the nature table Flickr pool for many great examples and ideas!

Do you have a nature table or corner in your home? I’d love to see more!

Dutch Swappers meeting

Yesterday almost 20 ladies who didn’t know each other came together in one house and had a lot of fun!

I was one of them! It was weird to see people you only ‘know’ through the internet. But very good to be in a room with so many creative people who know what you are talking about too.

We did a pass the parcel type of game: one minute you maybe have four or five great things on your lap, and the next minute you have to exchange it with a neighbour who maybe has one thing! But ten minutes later it’s all different again. Lots of laughter and excitement about some gifts.

This is what I brought home from the game (I forgot to take pictures of what I brought with me for the game…and these pictures are a bit dark because of the rain, but I don’t want to wait for the sun to shine again in March or April) :

Oh and there was food, a lot of food. I actually was happy I forgot the quiche I was supposed to bring, did I mention there was a lot of food….

And of course swapping our stuff (handmade items or materials), look what I took home:

And we learned to do a granny square! I had to leave in the middle of the process, but with the instructions I managed to finish it at home.

Check out Kimminita’s blog to hear what some of the other ladies have written on their blogs about yesterday! There are plans for a new meeting in January already!

bunting rolling stamp

I was inspired by this tutorial to make a bunting rolling stamp.

So when I saw two of those rolling thingies (what are they called, I haven’t got a clue!) in a thrift shop I almost jumped and grabbed them quickly!

This is how mine turned out.

IMG_4121

It’s so easy, you don’t really need a tutorial! Just cut the foam and glue it on!

Fun to decorate envelopes or gifts with!

Yesterday I had really good afternoon with people who had never met before, I’ll tell more about it tomorrow!

Yellow surprise party

A few weeks ago my husband turned 30!

I organised a surprise party a few weeks before the actual date. We were supposed to have diner at our house with friends, but of course they knew about the party. The cover story was that their car broke down that morning and they would come by train. My husband than had to get them from the station with our car. In the 15 minutes he was gone (the train station isn't that far) about 25 people came to our house (family and friends) and I decorated the house, yes that was very stressfull!

And boy was he surprised! He never expected anything like that!

This is the yellow bunting I made. I decided to do all the decoration in yellow, because that is my husbands favourite colour and we don't really have any yellow in the house.

I was to busy on the evening to make pictures, so I made two the next morning. The bunting in the picture above and this one:

Haha, what a terrible picture. I'll try to describe what is in the basket and how I decorated.

2 yellow/white tablecloths, one for outside, one for inside. We had Indonesian food catered (YUM!) so I also had plastic plates and cutlery. The small yellow buckets (with white polkadots!) were used to hold the spoons, knives and forks. For outside I had also arranged for three high tables. To make them a bit nicer I put some yellow with white polkadots paper placemats on them. The yellow bowls were for snacks and for some people to take leftovers home (we had a lot left).

I had made a yellow flag with a green 30 on it to hang outside the house. It was also the sign for the guests that the coast was clear to come in and B. was away picking up our friends. I had also bought a sign to hang on the window.

And the small '30' candles, which I forgot to light…but that's ok, because we can use it all again in November when I hit the big 3 0 !!

Oh and L. is starting to eat real food, how cute is that!

Blog Link Monday: Just something I made

A blog with a lot of creative ideas: Just something I made.

If you follow the link, you will be taken to a tutorial to make this clever little box:

Washi21

Washi19

It's a tape dispenser made from a cigar box! Told you it's clever. This lady has a lot of very pretty vintage cigar boxes that she uses as storage boxes for her craft supplies and other knicknacs (spelling please?).

Washi20

She has a lot of printables on her blog:

Decal10

How cute is that?! Different styles of decals, one for everyone and everything!

JSIM-alphabet3

I love all kinds of alphabets, especially these vintage types.

Cheese15

And bunting from vintage cheese labels: brilliant! More great images on that blog!

Now I wish I had a printer so I can download these images and use them, oh yes, they are free to download!

Too long…

It has been too long since I last posted!

I have started working again (3 days a week) after my maternity leave. It’s been busy and time flies……. No photo’s today either, boring right ;-) Oh, I did change the banner again! It’s a doodled embroidery I made last year, it’s still in the hoop, I like it that way.

Hope to get my blogging mojo back soon!
